Ready for some random ramblings? Because that’s exactly what this post is…
If I am taking the first 2 weeks of 2017 as any indication, this year will be interesting. Really, who has any idea of how things will pan out?
Well, no one.
I feel like on so many fronts, we are looking out on a vast unknown. I mean, we always are. We cannot control everything. We can only control ourselves, our reactions, and our actions. There is only so much we can individually affect.
As much as I’d like to call myself an optimist, I am a realist at the same time. Would I prefer the most positive outcome? OF COURSE. Am I realistic that it may not always turn out how I hope due to a whole assortment of mitigating factors I may or may not be able to see or understand? YES.
All we can do it make our opinions known, put our intentions out there, do our damnedest to make them happen, and accept it when the odds are not in our favor.
That’s sort of how I feel about the election and impending inauguration of Donald Trump. I didn’t vote for him. Is there anything I can do now about that now? Not particularly, but I can make it known that I’m unhappy, and take action where I feel I can make a tiny bit of difference if I am passionate about it.
Every day we wake up to a great unknown. It is how we tackle that unknown that decides our fates. If we just sit back and let life happen, we are taking ourselves and our own will out of the equation. Or, we could decide to care enough to do something about it.
Apathy is our biggest enemy.
